2021 Award Winner

Congratulations Lydia S

The 2021 Young Woman in Public Affairs Award recipient is Lydia S from Lewiston-Porter High School.

The Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Award recognizes young women, ages 16-19, who demonstrate leadership skills and commitment to public service and civic causes, and encourages them to continue their participation in public and political life. Lydia was presented with her $500 award by Bonnie and Pam who are members of the Awards Committee. She will be attending the University of Rochester. We congratulate Lydia on her achievements and wish her the best for the next levels of competition.

The 2020 Young Woman in Public Affairs Award recipient is Olivia K from Lewiston-Porter High School.

The Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Award recognizes young women, ages 16-19, who demonstrate leadership skills and commitment to public service and civic causes and encourages them to continue their participation in public and political life. 2020 Award Winner

Congratulations Madison Buchhol

The Zonta Club of Niagara Falls, NY is proud to announce the 2020 recipient the Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship.

The 2020 Jane M. Klausman (JMK) Women in Business Scholarship recipient is Madison Buchholz, a graduate student in the Niagara University College of Business. Madison is studying Strategic Marketing in NU’s Masters Degree Program.

Madison earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Niagara University in 2020 and expects to complete her Master’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Strategic Marketing from Niagara University in January 2021. She intends to pursue her Ph.D. in Marketing at the State University of New York – Buffalo in September 2021. Madison’s professional goal is to advocate for equality for women in business. She eventually hopes to become a professor to teach marketing and ethics.

In addition to her academic accomplishments, Madison has a long track record of service to others.

Served as a Kindergarten Student Aide while in high school, earning an award for over 100 hours of service in one year.
Selected as a Vincentian Scholar at Niagara University in recognition of service and academic performance.
Volunteered at St. Mary’s Neighborhood Health Clinic, serving children and families as well as leading two fundraising drives.
Organized events to support senior citizens at the Health Association of Niagara County, Inc.
The Young Woman in Business Scholarship helps women pursue undergraduate and master’s degrees in business management and overcome gender barriers from the classroom to the boardroom. The program operates at the Zonta club, district/region and international levels. Zonta International annually awards up to 32 scholarships of US$2,000 each at the district/region level and six international scholarships in the amount of US$8,000 each.

 We congratulate Madison on her achievement and wish her the best at the next levels of competition.

UPDATE

The District 4 Awards Committee is very pleased to announce that Madison Buchholz, submitted by the Zonta club of Niagara Falls, NY, has been selected as the District 4 Jane M. Klausman Women in Business scholarship winner for 2020.  Madison will receive $2,000 from Zonta International as the District 4 recipient. The District 4 Awards Committee received 5 applications from the clubs in District 4. The candidates were all exceptional young women.
